Mt. Olympus Revisited

Doug and I went on our annual hike to visit my dad's memorial.  We went early in the morning on June 14th.  I have deciding that hiking is not my forte.  I was in great shape from running and doing this hike was still super tough for me.  I was nervous that someone may have moved or defaced the plaque we had set up there.  Luckily when we made it to the location it was exactly how we left it.  The vegetation was a little more grown over, but other than that nothing had changed.  I was so relieved and grateful!

We had a little snack there and continued to the summit.  We made it to the top and the view is breathtaking!

Doug was walking in front of me on the way down the mountain and we heard a very distinct rattling sound.  Doug jumped and ran quickly around the trail while I stopped dead in my tracks.  After we calmed down a little we looked around and sure enough there was a rattlesnake right by us.  We are pretty sure it took a snap at Doug as he went by.  Another 50 feet down the trail we came across another one as well, but this time we were on guard and paying attention to where we were stepping.
